"Inspiring All to Achieve"

2016/11/25 Newsletter Issue 3

From our Head of School

Dear Parents/Carers

It has been a busy few weeks with lots of news to share. Parents who have kindly volunteered to help at the school should now have received a letter with details about how we will be using your offer of help. A big thank you again for your generosity.

School leaders are continuing to use the feedback from the parent meetings to help make changes and respond to parent suggestions. I will be meeting with the ‘Parent Voice’ group before the end of term and will be using these meetings as an opportunity to discuss how we can make further improvements.

A few parents have come to speak to me with concerns about safety relating to parking and drivers not taking care. I appreciate that the location of the school makes it challenging for parents to park; however, I would like to remind you not to park in the car parks of residential flats.

Finally, over the next couple of weeks there are fundraising events that have been organised. We are all looking forward to the ‘Great St Mary’s Bake off’ on Wednesday 30th November. If you would like to donate any cakes please hand them into class teachers on Wednesday. We will be selling the cakes on Thursday 1st December at break time and after school, so please bring your pennies! You will also be receiving a letter shortly with further details about the school book fair. Please do support the school with these events.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Hardy

Let's Celebrate! ...

EYFS have been busy making pumpkin soup. Children really enjoyed tasting their soup in the environmental area, with many children asking for seconds!

Year 1/2 have been looking forward to their parent celebration and were eager to read their fish inspired traditional tales and show off the beautiful collages they made to create a class aquarium.

Year 3/4 children in Keats class enjoyed showcasing their musical talents at the violin performance. We have also been lucky in Year 3/4 with parent volunteers working with children creating mirrored mosaics, linked to their story focus ‘The Scarab’s Secret.’  Thank you to these parents who have inspired children with this art project.

Year 5/6 children have been working hard on designing and advertising their own life changing inventions. They are looking forward to sharing their innovative inventions on Wednesday 30th November from 9.00-10.30 at their parent celebration.

Termly Learning Conferences:  You should have received a letter advising you of the dates for each class that these will take place. Please make sure you sign up for an appointment to discuss your child’s successes and next steps.

“Showcasing” Parent Tour: Wednesday 7th December at 10:00 a.m. - for those with children starting school  September 2017.
