"Inspiring All to Achieve"

2016/12/09 "St Mary's Matters" Newsletter Issue 4

From our Head of School

Dear Parents/Carers

There have been many exciting fundraising events over the last couple of weeks to celebrate:

  • Lots of enthusiasm and participation was seen with the ‘Great St Mary’s Bake Off’, which raised £351! The winners will be coming along for afternoon tea next week. Thank you to Mrs Stewart for organising this.
  • A well supported Book Fair was hugely successful in meeting our commission target. As a result of this, each class has money to spend on new books for their book corner! Thank you to Mrs Cox and other adults for running this event.
  • Finally, thank you to the new PTA for organising a fun Christmas themed film night. This evening raised nearly £300!

I would like to take this opportunity to give a reminder about school uniform.  As the weather is turning colder we are seeing more boots being worn. Once again, boots are very practical for the journey to and from school, but we would ask that they bring shoes to change into.

As we get closer to Christmas, it has been a lovely opportunity for the choir to go ‘on tour’ to spread some festive cheer to local nursing homes. Thank you also to choir members who did a fantastic job of representing the school at the Arundel Advert service. We look forward to seeing many parents and carers next week at the nativity performances and the KS2 Carol service.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Hardy

Let's Celebrate :

EYFS have been enjoying their topic ‘After dark’ with an exciting visit from the bird  man, who brought along hawks, eagles and owls.

Year 1/2 have been busy writing their own nativity script, which will be performed to parents next week.

Year 3/4 have become authors of their own Egyptian tales and enjoyed creating an Egyptian inspired dance.

Year 5/6 gave amazing presentations to their parents to persuade them to vote for their invention. Well done to the ‘Air Purifying Tree’ team.

   The Winning Team.
