Mrs Dorothy Rollason, Foundation Governor; Joint Vice-Chair of the Local Governing Committee from 14th September 2017

Dorothy is a retired Headteacher, having served for thirteen years as Head of two Catholic primary schools in Worcestershire before moving to West Sussex. She has worked for the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton in the Catholic Schools Education Service as a Primary RE Adviser and as interim Headteacher at schools in the diocese.  She is interested in teaching and learning, to help children become confident, happy and successful learners; the  professional development of staff and succession planning for school leaders. In developing children’s literacy and creativity she is enthusiastic about encouraging a love of reading, building on basic skills and listening to and writing poetry.  Favourite pastimes are going to the theatre and being with her two young grandchildren.

Mrs Christina Ruso, Parent Governor

Christina is a mother of four children, two at St Mary's and two pre-schoolers. She is married to Halil, and is a member of Jubilee Community Church, Worthing. Christina studied Art and Education at University. She has worked and volunteered alongside children, in particular children recognized with Learning difficulties and disabilities.  Through teaching she became more interested in Special Educational needs and so took this interest further by doing an MA in Special Education, Inclusion and Disability Studies. After marrying Halil in 2007 they moved to Worthing, where she took on the role of coordinating  Family Learning in West Sussex. She has always enjoyed visiting and working for short time periods with school in this capacity; however it was always a service provided to them. The governor’s role is very different to her previous experiences of Education and schools; Christina is excited by the challenge and the opportunity to be much more involved than she has previously experienced.
