"Inspiring All to Achieve"

"St Mary's Matters" Newsletter (Issue 12)

From our Head of School

Dear Parents/Carers

We have been celebrating the attitudes of Year 6 pupils during their NST assessments .  We saw a great deal of resilience being shown, and growth mindset being used.

We are also celebrating how well the Year 2 children applied themselves to their Reading tests this week.  These children will be sitting their Mathematics tests next week and we look forward to seeing more of the same positivity.  The Year 1 children showed friendship as they supported their Year 2 peers by working independently and quietly so as not to create any disturbance.  We are extremely proud of them all.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the e-Safety talks this week, and a special thank you to Mr Graham Lewenden for providing this opportunity to our parents/ carers.  I understand that it was a useful and practical session.

We have received email addresses from a small number of parents/carers; please do provide this contact information as it will enable paper-free, direct communication with parents/carers.  If you cannot find the form, just provide your child’s name and the email address to be used.

Many thanks to the parents/carers who attended the Parent Forum meeting this week.  Don’t forget, if you are unable to attend these meetings but would like to raise any issues or make any suggestions,  you can drop a note into the school or email parentsconnect@stmarysworthing.org.uk.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Hardy

Head of School

Let's Celebrate!

EYFS children have been going Mad for Minibeasts.  They have been investigating all kinds of creepy crawlies, building bug hotels, going on bug hunts and creating delicious minibeast menus in the bug café … beetle bolognese anyone?

Year 1/2 children have become weather reporters, gathering evidence about the weather in the UK across the four seasons.  This research will be used for creating our very own weather reports.  Do look out for the weather station in our outdoor area.

Year 3/4  pupils received a visit from Professor Ben on Thursday.  He was keen to learn how much the children had discovered about the Mayans, and to challenge them for the next stage of their learning journey.

Year 6 completed their NST assessments last week.  All children coped admirably and we wish them every success.  To celebrate, Year 5/6 pupils had a Beach visit, where all children had a great time.  On the beach, and earlier that week in Victoria Park, the children were very creative and   produced some impressive pieces of Land Art.  The children are looking forward to sharing photographs of the Land Art with parents in June, at the next Parent  celebration .
