"Inspiring All to Achieve"

"St Mary's Matters" Newsletter - Issue 9

From our Head of School

Dear Parents/Carers

The Parent/Carer Questionnaire is still available.  We shall be grateful if every parent/carer completes this, either online at http://www.schooltools.org.uk/surveys/7tg78gfd or on paper.  Paper copies are available from the school office staff.

Many of the Year 6 pupils have recently completed their Safer Cycling course.  We would like to remind parents that children are at risk when cycling, especially to and from school when traffic can be busier.  Cycle helmets are recommended to be worn, and we will be sending a Cycle Safety flyer out next week with more information and recommendations.

Parents and children have again been climbing over the fence from Beechwood Hall Hotel to the footpath, and the fence is again broken.  Beechwood Hall Hotel kindly allow parents to park in their car park but this privilege may be withdrawn if their perimeter is not respected.  Please remind your children that the fence is not a short cut, and refrain from using it yourselves.

We would like to thank the Parent Forum, who met on 23rd March, for their contribution to improvements in communication, the school website and other aspects of school life.

Thanks also, and well done, to the Friends of St Mary’s (PTA) for their activities.  The Mothers’ Day Raffle has raised over £160, with the prize being won by Max in EYFS.  We trust his mum will enjoy it!

The Easter Craft competition will be judged next week, with a winner and a runner-up in each class.  Entries must be in by Thursday morning, with a £1 entry fee.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Hardy

Let's Celebrate!

EYFS children  have been continuing their topic of “Into the Woods” and have been re-telling the story of “Little Red Riding Hood”.  They have been creating “Wanted” posters for the Wolf, and had a visit from “Grandma”!

Year 1/2  classes are looking lovely with all the children’s miniature worlds on display.

(The year 1/2 classes are working on their ‘growing area’ and would welcome donations of compost, seeds, seed trays and gardening equipment.)

Year 3/4  children all demonstrated courage in presenting their group  projects.  We were all so proud of them for showing team work whilst          developing Maths and  English skills.  Thank you to parents and carers who joined us and voted.

Year 6 children enjoyed learning the highway code, how to maintain their bikes and how to cycle safely on the roads.

Some Key Stage 2 children represented St Mary’s with pride, in the “Time to Dance” celebration at the Pavilion Theatre.  Well done to all of them.
