Mrs J Kirby

Newly appointed governor

Miss M Dargen-Murphy

Foundation Governor; Joint Vice-Chair of the Local Governing Committee from 14th September 2017

Margaret has been a Foundation Governor since November 2012, and held the position of Chair of the Governing Body for 4 years from September 2013. Until her retirement, she was a teacher of English, including as Head of Department, in Catholic secondary schools, where she also had experience of liaison and transition between the primary and secondary sectors. She remains very keen to help promote the ethos of Catholic Education, to which she has always been fully committed, by supporting St Mary’s C P School in its task of providing the best possible moral and academic education for the children in its care. She has a desire to see the school continuing to improve and to provide a strong Catholic foundation for all pupils. Margaret is a parishioner of English Martyrs, Goring, where she is an organist.

Mrs C Ruso

Parent Governor

Christina is a mother of four children, two at St Mary's and two pre-schoolers. She is married to Halil, and is a member of Jubilee Community Church, Worthing. Christina studied Art and Education at University. She has worked and volunteered alongside children, in particular children recognized with Learning difficulties and disabilities. Through teaching she became more interested in Special Educational needs and so took this interest further by doing an MA in Special Education, Inclusion and Disability Studies. After marrying Halil in 2007 they moved to Worthing, where she took on the role of coordinating Family Learning in West Sussex. She has always enjoyed visiting and working for short time periods with school in this capacity; however it was always a service provided to them. The governor's role is very different to her previous experiences of Education and schools; Christina is excited by the challenge and the opportunity to be much more involved than she has previously experienced.

Mrs D Rollason

Foundation Governor – Appointed 7/2/2017

Dorothy is a retired Headteacher, and has worked for the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton in the Catholic Schools Education Service as a Primary RE Adviser and as interim Headteacher at schools in the Diocese.

Dorothy is interested in teaching and learning, to help children become confident, happy and successful learners; the professional development of staff; and succession planning for school leaders. In developing children's literacy and creativity she is enthusiastic about encouraging a love of reading, building on basic skills and listening to and writing poetry.

Favourite pastimes are going to the theatre and being with her two young grandchildren.

Sister Mary Quane

Foundation Governor - Appointed 26/02/2018

Sister Catherine is a Sister of Mercy. She taught in schools in London and Kent, and served for seven years in adult education in the Christian Education Centre in the Diocese of Nottingham. Having completed her term of office on the leadership team of her congregation, she trained for retreat work and spiritual accompaniment.

Sister Catherine has been a governor in primary and secondary schools and recently the chair of governors in an independent school. She believes that the formation of our young people is a most important ministry.

They are the Church and society of the future.
