The WorthLess? Campaign, set up by schools across West Sussex, is working to change the unfair funding model that means that West Sussex pupils receive less funding towards their education.
The WorthLess? facebook page can be accessed from this link.
Update letters will be sent out from the school when available; they can also be accessed below.
We have entered a period of adverse weather conditions, including snow. Please see below the school's position regarding school closures.WEDNESDAY 28th FEBRUARY : The School is OPEN today.
If the staff are able to travel safely to school, and there are sufficient numbers of teachers to cover the classrooms, then the school will remain open.
It is up to parents to decide if they wish to bring their children to school, and this should be determined by whether or not they feel it is safe to do so.
Often the first day of snow is less dangerous than the second day, when there may have been a thaw and then a refreezing overnight, which leaves the whole area of the school and routes to the school extremely dangerous. For this reason, the school may close on the second day of snow, depending on whether there has been a melt followed by a freeze.
Each morning, we will make an assessment of conditions, and decide whether it is safe for the school to open. Our aim is to ensure that there is as little disruption to the children's education as possible, and also to support working parents for whom emergency closures are extremely difficult. We will use Spirit fm and More Radio, should we need to let parents/carers know whether or not the school is open, or text if we need to close early in the event of snow during the school day.
We will also put this information on our school website.
Please ensure that the school has your up to date mobile phone number, in order that you can be kept fully informed in the event of adverse weather conditions.
In short, the school will only close if the school is so deep in snow that it is not safe for the staff to come in, or if the ice makes it unsafe for the staff and children to come to school; otherwise we will endeavour to keep the school open and parents can make a decision whether to bring their children to school, based on their individual circumstances.
Bosco Catholic Education Trust is looking for enthusiastic and willing volunteers to become Foundation Governors (must be practising Catholics) and non-Foundation Governors on the Local Governing Committee of either St Mary's Catholic Primary School (Worthing) or St Philip Howard Catholic School (Barnham). Being a governor is a highly rewarding experience and an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the life chances of the children entrusted to our care. Our local governing committees are not overly bureaucratic and you won't be sitting in lots of lengthy meetings, being limited to 6 a year. What you will be doing is applying your skills and knowledge to help shape the strategic direction of our schools and work as a team to provide an outstanding education to our children.
In particular, we are looking for people with experience of finance, HR and data; however other skills are equally valuable and would be welcome. You won't be 'thrown in at the deep end', you would be provided with induction, training and support in your role.
Please do contact either Lorraine Squire, Clerk to Governors on email@example.com or David Carter, Bosco Chief Executive Officer on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to express an interest in becoming a Governor at either St Mary's or SPH. You won't regret it! It's a really important and useful way of volunteering.
Presentation of medals by the Mayor of Worthing will take place at Worthing Town Hall on Friday 27th April at 4.30pm
